Catholic school teachers at several schools under the New York Archdiocese once again took to the streets to demand a new contract.
More than a dozen teachers picketed at the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton School in Shrub Oak and Sacred Heart Elementary School in Hartsdale over what they call unfair labor practices.
Protesters say they have been without a contract all year. Leaders say the archdiocese is offering them a 1 percent wage increase, but is also threatening to close some schools.
The teachers believe they're worth more than 1 percent, and parents have been showing their support by picking up their children from school and taking them home.
The archdiocese says it has been offering more than 9 percent over three years, and that the teachers' actions won't help reach a settlement.
It says that some teachers, volunteers and personnel from the region office crossed the picket lines to be at the schools.
Talks are planned for Wednesday.
