An accident on the ramp leading to the Cross County Parkway created a nightmare commute for many drivers Monday morning.
Police say a car slammed into a utility pole on Route 100/Central Avenue at around 6 a.m. Monday. The car hit with such force that the pole snapped in half, dangling live wires.
Con Ed was on the scene quickly to make repairs.The power was turned off to nearly a dozen homes and businesses nearby as workers repaired the poles and lines. Power has since been restored.
A man and woman in the car were taken to the hospital with injuries, but are expected to be OK.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
