Sixteen Montrose high school students were hauled into state police headquarters Monday over a senior prank.
Cops say the students broke into Hendrick Hudson High School on Albany Post Road Sunday night and planted ticking clocks throughout the building. The clocks were synchronized to go off at the same time Monday. School administrators got wind of the plan and called in the bomb squad as a precaution.
Sources tell News 12 Westchester that authorities expect to charge the suspects with placing a false bomb, a felony charge punishable by up to a year behind bars.
While some classmates and parents feel the punishment doesn't fit the crime, others disagree.
"I think it's appropriate. They broke into school after hours. Felony is a felony. They broke the law," a student said.
The students are due in court June 18 for arraignment.
