A Black florist in Peekskill brings beauty and good vibes to the community, one floral arrangement at a time.
August is Black Business Month, and News 12 spoke with Pamela Hallman-Johnson, owner of Lily of the Valley Floral Design shop on South Street.
Hallman-Johnson said she is the only Black florist in Peekskill and may be the only Black florist in Westchester County. She said her business creates flower arrangements for weddings, funerals, birthdays and graduations among other events. She said they also do rejuvenation baskets to cheer people up as well.
Hallman-Johnson opened her business shop about two years ago. She said she is determined to succeed as an entrepreneur and offers service with a smile and then some.
She said she tries to give her customers an experience of mind, body and spirit.
As a Peekskill resident for the last 20 years, Hallman-Johnson also teaches special education students at New Rochelle High School.
If anyone asks the multitasker how she finds the time to do so much for so many, she credits her faith and talent in making beautiful arrangements.
