A pedestrian was killed in a crash that shut down all northbound lanes of the Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh for several hours Friday morning.

New York State Police say troopers responded at about 11:40 p.m. Thursday to a fatal collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on the northbound Sprain Brook Parkway near mile marker 7.0.

The crash prompted a lengthy investigation that closed all three northbound lanes just south of Dobbs Ferry Road. Drivers reported being stuck in traffic for hours as emergency crews worked at the scene.

Traffic is now flowing again after authorities cleared the roadway and reopened the parkway.

State police have not released the identity of the victim, pending notification of family members. The investigation remains ongoing.
