Republican Assemblyman Greg Ball (District 99) beat a primary challenger backed by his own party Tuesday.
Former Brewster Mayor John Degnan, a Republican, was backed by the Democrats for the primary. The race is not over though, because Degnan will again face Ball in November under the Democratic line. Ball also carries the Independent and Conservative party lines.
The campaign has been long and filled with accusations of dirty politics. Ball won with 73 percent of the vote. Degnan got just 27 percent.
