The Ardsley Road Bridge, which has had ongoing construction activity for more than four years reopened Friday, allowing for two-way traffic to flow freely from Ardsley to Central Park Avenue and Scarsdale.
The bridge crosses over the Sprain Brook Parkway.
The rehabilitation of the bridge began in spring 2021 for structural and safety reasons.
Since then, the bridge which connects to Scarsdale, has had intermittent construction, one lane and even a temporary light pole to help motorists pass safely.
Many people in Ardsley on Friday expressed their excitement with the reopening, saying its been a long time coming.
"It's been really bothersome with the construction and everything. Having to wait at that light for five minutes each time and sometimes they have machines and stuff going through its kind of crazy," said Dobbs Ferry resident Robert Cheetham.
Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner says this is the longest small bridge repair he has ever seen.
