New York Attorney General Letitia James is leading a lawsuit accusing OneMain Financial of a predatory lending scheme designed to trap consumers in debt.

James says the company advertises itself as a lender that offers loans to those in need yet misleads borrowers with expensive hidden costs.

OneMain Financial is one of the largest non-bank installment lenders in the country, with over 1,300 branches across 44 states.

The suit claims tens of thousands of New York residents have been impacted by their predatory tactics.
