Services have been set for the Newburgh police officer killed this weekend in a snow mobile accident.
The Town of Newburgh Police Department says Daniel Romano, 32, was off-duty when he was killed in a snowmobile accident Friday night in Herkimer County.
According to Webb Town police, Romano collided with a tree on the Webb Snowmobile Trail System. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Preliminary investigation shows speed was among the factors in the accident.
Romano had been a member of the department since October 2018.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh.
GoFundMe for Romano's family set up by his brother has raised nearly $200,000.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
