A White Plains man faces 13 charges for allegedly strangling and assaulting his ex-girlfriend, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.

Michah Jackson was arrested on June 5 and arraigned on Aug. 25. His charges include strangulation, two counts of grand larceny, two counts of assault and three counts of harassment.

The 21-year-old pleaded not guilty and was released on bond.

Prosecutors say on June 1, Jackson approached his girlfriend near Nepperhan and Yonkers avenues in Yonkers and hit her in the face. They alleged that Jackson attempted to strangle the victim after she refused to speak to him.

When the woman got away, she ran towards her car, but Jackson allegedly grabbed her keys, opened the door and struck her in the face. When the victim asked for her keys back, Jackson charged at her, punched her in the face and strangled her until she lost consciousness, according to officials.

They say Jackson also took her car and phone.

Prosecutors say although a protection order was issued following his arrest, Jackson violated it three times within the month.

Jackson is expected to be back in court on Sept. 16.

Prosecutors say Jackson has two open cases in Yonkers. Anyone who believes they were victim is encouraged to contact police or the DA's office.
