36-year-old man drowns at Walton Lake in Monroe

Authorities say the Long Island resident was visiting the lake with friends at the time of the incident.

A 36-year-old man drowned Saturday afternoon at Walton Lake in Monroe, according to state police.
Authorities say the Long Island resident was visiting the lake with friends.
He fell off an inflatable paddle board about 40 feet from the shore and did not resurface.
Several people from the nearby American Legion Post responded and removed him from the water.
They performed life-saving measures until the arrival of EMS and state police.
The man was then taken to Garnet Health Medical Center in critical condition, where he later succumbs to his injuries.
