An investigation is ongoing after Patchogue-Medford School District officials said a district rover saw a man engaging in inappropriate behavior on school grounds at Eagle Elementary School over the weekend.

In a letter to the community sent on Monday, Patchogue-Medford Interim Superintendent of Schools Lori Cannetti said security directed the man to leave after catching the man exposing himself on Sunday, March 29.

The district said it immediately launched an investigation.

Officials reviewed security footage from Sunday and prior days and found that the same person also engaged in similarly inappropriate behavior near school grounds on Saturday, March 21.

The district then notified the Suffolk County Police Department of both incidents.

"The district is fully cooperating with law enforcement," Cannetti said. "The safety and security of our school community remain our highest priority."

Suffolk County police confirmed the department is investigating two instances in which a man exposed himself at Eagle Elementary School.

The school is located on Wave Avenue in Medford, nestled between several residential streets.

No students were on the school grounds at the time, according to both the school district and law enforcement.

The district said additional security will be in place at Eagle Elementary School this weekend and school officials are asking anyone to report any suspicious activity to Suffolk County police.

Suffolk County police said no arrest has been made and the investigation is continuing.
