A $21 million project has started on improvements for the Thruway in Ulster County.

The project will include full and partial depth repairs on I-87, along with pavement resurfacing for a 15-mile section between exits 19 and 20.

Gov. Kathy Hochul says about 40,000 drivers use that stretch of the roadway in both directions every day.
