Two rescued beagle puppies are now thriving after arriving at SPCA Westchester in Briarcliff Manor.

Florence and Elanore are among 10 beagles taken in last Thursday as part of a larger rescue effort.

They were part of 1,500 beagles removed from Ridglan Farms, a Wisconsin facility that breeds animals for biomedical research.

SPCA officials say the puppies are receiving medical care and attention as they adjust to their new environment.

“They're all doing really well all things considered,” said Lisa Bonanno of SPCA Westchester. “They’re still shy but starting to come out of their shell and enjoy being around people.”

Elanore is expected to be at SPCA Westchester’s dog walk and pet fair this Saturday.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at FDR Park in Yorktown and will feature other adoptable pets.
