Drivers in the Bronx are feeling the pinch in their pockets, as gas prices are climbing. Some tell News 12 it's already changing their daily routines.

"I can't even fill my tank up," said Nas, a Bronx resident. "It's hard out here."

Others say long, frequent trips are becoming unsustainable. Christian Estevez, who drives to Pennsylvania three times a week to visit family, says the rising cost is making those drives more difficult.

"It's expensive today," he said.

According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in New York City is about $3.94, which is nearly a dollar higher than last month.

Experts say ongoing tensions in the Middle East, including the war in Iran, are driving prices up.

Some businesses are impacted, too. Jason Thomas runs Elite Lux Car Service. He told News 12 the rising cost of gas is coming out of his own pocket.

"I don't want my prices to go up to inconvenience the clients, but it does hurt my business," Thomas said.

With spring break approaching, some drivers say they may skip trips altogether, while others say they'd rather deal with long airport lines than pay more at the pump.
