According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of regular gas is $4.02 - $1 more than it was only a month ago.

In New York City, the average price of gas is now $3.93 and last week it was about $3.80.

Regular gas prices for cars aren't the only thing that has seen a huge jump. Jet fuel prices have more than doubled since the conflict in the Middle East began, according to the International Air Transport Association.

Those prices are above 104%, selling at an average of $4.65 a gallon nationwide. Because of this, airlines have been increasing their prices through surcharges and reviewing flight routes.

On the ground, there are some tips on how to get the most of your gas:

Slow down and drive the speed limit fuel drops as the speeds increase above 50 mph.

It's going to be a little warm this week so lower the windows instead of turning on your air conditioner.

Lastly, remove any heavy items in your car as it takes more fuel to accelerate a heavier car.

How long will these high prices last? That's all up to how long the conflict in the Middle East lasts.
