Man killed in East New York shooting

When police arrived, they found the 40-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his torso and right leg.

A 40-year-old man died after being shot twice in East New York.

Police responded to a call of a person shot at Wortman Avenue and Ashford Street just after 9 a.m. on Monday.

Police have identified the victim as Edwin Guevarez Jr. They say the shooting happened near his home.

When police arrived, they found Guevarez Jr. with gunshot wounds to his torso and right leg.

He was transported to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

There are no arrests at this time.
