Young people in Peekskill are taking action against violence tonight.
Black Diamonds Academic Success, a nonprofit that mentors young men of color, is hosting a "Stop the Violence Town Hall."
The event comes after a shooting in July sent the city and state officials into high gear.
Two women were shot in a car by a man walking by near Main Street and Nelson Avenue. Luckily they survived.
Nonetheless, about a month later, Peekskill received a $100,000 grant to put towards fighting gun violence.
The funding is being utilized by Black Diamonds Academic Success, and organization that launched for the sole purpose of fighting the achievement gap and helping young men of color graduate from high school on time.
All youth are invited to attend. For more information, click here.
