The race for the 4th District council seat is heating up as a young Republican tosses his hat in the ring.
John Rubbo announced his candidacy Saturday for the seat formerly held by Liam McLaughlin, who can't run again because of term limit laws. Rubbo resigned his position as a senior staffer for the mayor to run for the seat.
"I know how the city works," Rubbo says. "I think this is the time now to make the change for the next generation of the city of Yonkers."
Rubbo will face a September primary challenge from Dennis Shepard, who received the Republican nomination earlier this week.
