Man arrested in Ellenville shooting that left victim seriously injured

New York State Police have made an arrest in the Ellenville shooting that left a man seriously injured earlier this week.
Police say Russell Long, 46, of Ellenville, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the shooting at 15 Spring Street Tuesday afternoon.
Long is charged with first-degree assault, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment — all felonies.
State Police say Long fired multiple shots in a populated area, striking the victim several times.
Troopers responded to the Spring Street home just before 3:30 p.m. and found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his legs. A police source previously told News 12 the victim was shot twice.

The victim was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center and underwent emergency surgery. State Police say his injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
Neighbors told News 12 the victim was found in the driveway. News 12 observed what appeared to be discarded medical gloves in the driveway Wednesday morning.
Several neighbors also told News 12 police have been called to the residence before and described a history of problems at the property. Authorities have not said whether any previous incidents are connected to the shooting.
Long was arraigned and sent to the Ulster County Jail without bail.
State Police say the investigation remains ongoing and are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting to contact them at 845-344-5300.
