A Yorktown resident has been sentenced to six months in the Westchester County Jail for hitting a man with his ATV in 2023.

Authorities say Ed Moffett was trying to stop vehicles from damaging the ballfields at Lakeside Park when he was struck by 21-year-old Kyle Frankild. Moffett suffered a compound fracture in his leg and other injuries.

Frankild pleaded guilty to second-degree assault. As a part of his sentence in court this week, he was given 4 ½ years of probation, ordered to stay away from the victim and pay him $5,000 in restitution.

Officials also say a law in Yorktown now makes it illegal to operate an ATV or offroad motorcycle on any public property in the town.
