Hundreds of members of five Yonkers unions held a rally outside City Hall to demand a new contract and raises from the city.
The unions represent firefighters, garbage collectors, teachers and board of education employees and other workers. People at the rally say they have been working for five years without a contract or a raise.
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano says he has met with union representatives more than 100 times throughout his term, but no deal has been reached.
Spano hopes they can reach an agreement that he says does not put too much of a burden on taxpayers.
