Tenants of a Yonkers apartment building are at their wits end after spending nearly two weeks without heat.
There are already 20 apartments condemned by the city inside 73-83 Highland Ave. in southwest Yonkers.
A city spokesperson says a shelter has been set up at the PAL on North Broadway, but no one is taking advantage of it. Tenants told News 12 that it was too inconvenient to leave their homes.
News 12 has learned that the city has been leaning on the landlord to fix the heat issue promptly.
When confronted, the landlord asked News 12 not to record him. He didn't give a timeline as to when the heat will be fixed, only to say his contractors keep telling him "soon."
The landlord told News 12 that space heaters have been provided and he's spending money every day to fix the problem. He initially said the problem was fixed Tuesday night.
