After an early morning round of rain, the rest of the morning will be mostly dry with clouds slowly giving way to breaks of sun. It will heat up in a hurry as that happens! You will also feel uncomfortable levels of humidity...and that's not all! Unfortunately, we are still looking at the chance for isolated to scattered thunderstorms, mainly after 3 p.m. and through around 10 p.m.
A day like today is actually a day you do not want to see a lot of sunshine. The reason? More sun today will help to destabilize the atmosphere more - essentially adding more "fuel" for storms to pop up and be strong through this evening. The longer clouds linger on a day like today, the more the severe weather chance begins to drop. This is something the News 12 Storm Watch Team will be watching closely for you today.
That said, I do think we will still see these scattered storms materialize this afternoon and evening. It's just going to be hit and miss, but they can provide wind gusts over 40 mph and torrential downpours. If you notice the sky look ominous near you, please take shelter!
