Yonkers police are searching for a gunman who opened fire on a car Tuesday afternoon.
The shooting occurred just after 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Morningside Place and Lake Avenue in Yonkers.
Sources say a 33-year-old man was shot in the neck and died.
Yonkers Police Commissioner Charles Gardner called the broad daylight shooting "rare," and says the police department believes the men were targeted.
Another victim, a 37-year-old man, was shot in the shoulder. Officials say he is in stable condition at Jacobi Medical Center.
Authorities have seen several violent incidents recently, including a shooting and stabbing last weekend on the city's south side.
Gardner says police resources are placed depending on crime conditions.
