Parents report technical issues as Yonkers schools open for remote learning
It's back to school today for most students in the Yonkers school district, but many are already reporting tech problems.
Some parents tell News 12 they're having trouble logging on and getting their kids situated.
But, the district says that's to be expected, considering everyone's new to this remote learning experience.
The whole concept of remote learning itself is still controversial among parents and students alike. "You know, I know a lot of parents feel differently, but I think it's just imperative that these kids have that exposure to their friends and the teachers," says parent Nirsa Bianchi.
The district says that students will be remote learning for until at least October.
But one school, School 17, just had to push its start date back until tomorrow. This, coming after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
Now, parents are speaking out on social media, saying things like "This is only the beginning" of dates being pushed back for schools during the pandemic. Essentially, they say it's par for the course.
