Westchester bill targets sale of vaping devices disguised as school supplies
Businesses caught selling such items could face fines ranging from $300 to $1,500 for the first violation.

Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins has signed a bill aiming to prevent minors from obtaining vapes and electronic cigarettes.
The new legislation bans the sale of “camouflaged vape devices”. It targets products that are disguised as school supplies like highlighters, USB drives and ballpoint pens.
Businesses caught selling such items could face fines ranging from $300 to $1,500 for the first violation.
The bill authorizes the Westchester County Board of Health to enforce the law.
“Westchester County is taking a stand against these deceptive products, and the manufacturers who are directly targeting our kids. These devices may look completely innocent, but they are ultimately luring young people into an addicting nicotine habit,” said Jenkins and a release introducing the bill.
Officials say the County Board of Legislators is also considering another bill that would allow the Board of Health to enforce a ban against Westchester businesses possessing flavored nicotine vape products.
