Edwin Quezada will remain with Yonkers Public Schools a little longer.
Quezada, who retired as superintendent on Monday, will now serve as interim superintendent through this month.
Quezada announced his retirement in April.
The school board has hired a search firm as it looks for his replacement.
It’s not known when a new superintendent may be named, but it's possible another interim superintendent may have to be appointed.
Quezada has served as superintendent since 2016.
He has been named executive director of the Philadelphia Academy of School Leaders.
