Yonkers police are training more motorcycle officers.
The Yonkers Police Motorcycle Training School currently has 16 rookie riders. As part of a 10-day program, instructors are teaching them the skills needed to get out on the road.
The officers will be used for traffic enforcement and a new crosswalk enforcement initiative aimed at keeping pedestrians safe.
An officer attending the training school says seeing police officers operate motorcycles with safety gear can also encourage people to do the same.
