A White Plains woman accused of abandoning her newborn baby inside a ShopRite bathroom faced a judge Tuesday.

Guerlande Atila, 32, is accused of giving birth in an employee bathroom at the store last month and leaving the infant behind.

A temporary order of protection was issued Tuesday for the baby boy.

Court records allege Atila placed the newborn inside a trash can.

The baby was found about seven hours later by a store employee and rushed to a hospital, according to police.

Atila has been charged with child abandonment.

She is due back in court in October.
