Fugitive accused of defrauding Yonkers' immigrant community extradited from Washington state
yesterday Yonkers police announced this afternoon that they have apprehended a suspect in connection to the shooting of an off-duty police officer earlier this week.

The suspect identified as Bryan Martinez appeared in Yonkers Criminal Court on Friday.
Authorities say the incident arose from a personal dispute between the victim and the suspect, who were acquainted through family connections.
The shooting occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday near Tompkins and Railroad avenues.
Police disclosed that a 27-year-old off-duty officer from the NYPD was shot while seated in his vehicle.
As outlined in the felony complaint, Martinez allegedly discharged 13 rounds at the victim using a 9 mm pistol.
The victim sustained a single gunshot wound to the right arm and self-transported to a hospital.
Law enforcement officials stated they swiftly identified a vehicle sought in connection to the shooting, tracing it to Port Chester. Within just over four hours after the incident, Martinez was apprehended by authorities as a person of interest.
Yonkers Police Commissioner Chris Sapienza said in a statement, "We do not tolerate acts of violence in this city, especially when it involves gunfire directed at an off-duty Police Officer." Yonkers police confirmed that Martinez has no prior criminal record.
Martinez’s next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 1.
His attorney had no comment.
