Yonkers City Hall was flooded with complaints after police launched a ticket blitz possibly due to a contract dispute with the city. Bee-Line buses, delivery trucks, News 12 Westchester and other press vehicles have all been hit with violations over the past couple of days. Many say the police are not cutting anyone any slack, especially commercial vehicles. City officials say the ticket blitz is a thinly disguised effort to force a new contract with the police union. Police have been without a contract for the past 18 months. However, Yonkers PBA head Eddie Armour says there is no job action going on. Armour adds, even without a contract, police continue to get guns off the streets and tackle drugs and gang violence.

Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone held a press conference Friday to address the issue. Amicone says although the union denies the blitz, he sees no other explanation for the spike in summonses. He says he will use his authority to dismiss as many of the tickets as he can.
