A former employee of a Westchester pet grooming business has been charged with animal cruelty after authorities say surveillance video captured him abusing an elderly dog.
The Westchester District Attorney's Office says 29-year-old Cole Kamrath of Peekskill was arrested and charged with animal cruelty in connection with an incident at Dogtopia of Mount Kisco.
According to prosecutors, surveillance footage allegedly shows Kamrath slamming a small, elderly dog onto a metal table while working at the business in July.
Authorities say the dog's owners noticed changes in the animal's behavior and contacted Dogtopia.
After reviewing surveillance video, the business immediately terminated Kamrath's employment, according to the district attorney's office.
Kamrath was arrested in September and has been charged with animal cruelty.
