A driver struck a natural gas line in Yonkers Friday night, prompting a temporary evacuation of some homes, according to police.
Officials say a Tesla driver struck the line at a home located on Palmer Road just after 8:30 p.m.
The Yonkers Fire Department evacuated five houses on the road out of an abundance of caution, while Con Edison crews shut the gas line and evaluated the damage.
The residents have since been allowed to return to their homes.
Officials say the driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
