Yonkers police arrested a man who they say barricaded himself in an apartment complex on Morrow Avenue Wednesday.

Uniformed officers, detectives, the SWAT team and EMS crews surrounded a building at the Jeffrey Park apartment complex after investigators say a man in one of the apartments threatened Westchester County probation officers who were trying to arrest him.

Police did not immediately release the suspect's identity or details about his original arrest warrant.

Crisis negotiators ordered the apartments on either side of the suspect's unit evacuated as they tried to convince him to surrender.

After three hours, the standoff ended when police broke in through a window, according to the building's superintendent.

Other residents say the heavy police presence caused fear and confusion.
