Police in Yonkers are accused of using a ticket blitz as a bargaining tool in a contract dispute.
Last week, Yonkers City Hall was flooded with complaints that vehicles, especially commercial trucks, were the victims of a ticket blitz by police. City officials say the ticket blitz is a thinly disguised effort to force a new contract with the police union. Police have been without a contract for the past 18 months. The Yonkers PBA head denies any job action is going on.
AVET coach vans were the latest to receive tickets while parking on the streets of Yonkers. However, police say they have received numerous complaints about the vans. They say many are unlicensed and unregistered.
