A Yonkers mother is upset because she says the city's school district is splitting her two young children into different districts, even though they live at the same address.
Antoinette Dibento says the district is sending her 7-year-old daughter to Family School 32, and her 4-year-old son to Cross Hill Academy. She predicts it will create severe inconvenience for pick-up and drop-offs, as well as during parent-teacher conference time.
Dibento appealed the decision, but received a letter saying her son was still going to a different school. She says she's worried that her son won't have his big sister to help him transition into a new place.
Dibento says she is scheduled to talk to someone about the issue on the Sept. 12 -- a week after school starts.
The school district told News 12 that siblings may be separated if families register late, but Dibento says she registered at the beginning of the school year.
