Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano released his proposed 2016 budget to Yonkers City Council today.
The mayor says his $1.04 billion spending plan includes a 1.67 percent tax increase, staying within the state's 2 percent property tax cap.
He also said that there are signs of economic growth in the city, including homes sales that are up and unemployment that is down.
However, the city is still looking to Albany to save the school district, which is short $28 million. That same amount was provided last year by Albany lawmakers to save teachers and staff from being laid off.
