As Mayor-elect Mike Spano gets set to take over leadership of Yonkers, current Mayor Phil Amicone is packing up all his personal items from his office.
With only a few days left in his term, Amicone's formal portrait now hangs with those of his predecessors on the walls outside his city hall office. Amicone has spent his last 16 years in public office. He is being term limited out of the mayor's office after eight years in the job. He took over after spending the previous eight years as deputy mayor to John Spencer.
A professional engineer, Amicone is in talks with several engineering firms for post city hall employment.
While his office is all packed up, Amicone isn't ready to turn over the keys just yet. Until Mike Spano is sworn in on Jan. 1, Amicone is still the mayor.
