Workers from a Yonkers restaurant were honored by the city Friday for their part in helping police find a woman who had been taken hostage.
The Chipper Truck Café employees jumped into action after they received an alarming note along with a Grubhub order Sunday morning. The workers called police who then traced the address and found a 24-year-old woman who said she had been held against her will and had been raped at knifepoint. A man was arrested in connection to the incident.
Yonkers Council Member John Rubbo came to the café Friday to present a recognition to everyone involved in the heroic act.
This comes after Grubhub presented them with $5,000 for their efforts, as well as a $200 gift certificate to Restaurant Depot, where they buy their supplies.
