Gun violence increased in Yonkers and Newburgh during the first four months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, according to state data.
In Yonkers, six shooting incidents left eight people injured and one dead, doubling the number of incidents from last year.
In Newburgh, five people were injured in shootings, up from two in the same period last year.
The data was collected through the Gun Violence Elimination Initiative.
