Blackstone has released a statement on their employee who was slain when a gunman opened fire inside at their Midtown office building Monday. The office building where the shooting took place houses Blackstone, the NFL among other companies.
According to her Blackstone bio Wesley LePatner was a Yale graduate and at Blackstone a Senior Managing Director.
"Words cannot express the devastation we feel. Wesley was a beloved member of the Blackstone family and will be sorely missed." the company said. "She was brilliant, passionate, warm, generous, and deeply respected within our firm and beyond."
The shooter has been identified as 27-year-old Shane Devon Tamura of Las Vegas.
Investigators say, Tamura drove his car from Las Vegas and had documented mental health issues.
Officers found the rifle, ammunition, and medication in his car.
They say the gunman is dead, from a self-inflicted gunshot.
CNN reports they were told from a source that a suicide note was found in the gunman's pocket that mentioned grievances with the NFL and claimed he suffered from CTE, a brain disease linked to head injuries.
