Work is about to get underway in Tarrytown and Nyack on viewing platforms for construction of the new Tappan Zee Bridge.
A groundbreaking was held in Nyack's Memorial Park Thursday for construction of a fishing pier and observation platform, which will help residents and others follow construction of the bridge. The structure, which will measure 30 feet by 80 feet, is set to have binoculars along with panels explaining the construction.
A similar observation platform is going to be built along Tarrytown's waterfront.
The total cost of each platform is about $300,000, most of which is coming from a state grant.
