Ramapo officials released new details about the house fire that broke out Monday at 106 Williams Ave. in Hillcrest.

According to Ramapo police, Hillcrest firefighters rescued a 67‑year‑old woman. She was taken to Westchester Medical Center for smoke inhalation. Police said they could not release her name or provide an update on her condition.

Authorities said the fire appears to have started on the stovetop in the kitchen and currently looks accidental. The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) is conducting a review to determine what caused the fire to ignite.

The Red Cross reported that it is providing emergency assistance to 14 people from the home.

On Monday, Ramapo Town officials said violations were expected to be issued for alleged construction done at the property without permits.
