Suffern police are looking into why a woman was hit by a car in the community.
Police say the 59-year old was dressed all in black and was in the middle of a dark area of Wayne Avenue and Stewart Circle around 9:45 p.m. They say the driver of the car did not see the woman until after she was hit.
Police tell News 12 it does not appear as if the driver was at fault. "When the driver originally hit her, she did not even seen her. She heard the noise, looked down and saw the person, and realized she had struck a person," says Police Chief Clarke Osborn.
The woman was taken to Nyack Hospital, where she underwent surgery for undisclosed injuries.
