A Cortlandt Manor woman has thrown a wrench into the gears of a proposed, controversial gas pipeline.
Nancy Vann sat herself down on the edge of her property, near trees that crews were supposed to clear Thursday to make room for the groundwork.
Law prevents the tree removal crews from cutting down any trees when there is a person within 300 feet.
"If it ruptured, it could put 20 million people at risk," Vann said of the pipeline.
Many community members have protested the pipeline, and a group of them have filed a lawsuit against the company behind it.
The lawsuit has stalled in court as construction has begun.
"I guess someone should bring me a good book," Vann said, noting she has no plans to leave until supporters defeat the pipeline.
