White Plains students headed back to the classrooms Wednesday to begin a promising school year.
News 12 reporter Kristina Cartwright was at Mamaroneck Avenue Elementary School where students attended a welcome ceremony.
The school also gave a warm welcome to their new superintendent Paul Fried who rode a yellow school bus this morning.
"I was able to get off the bus and surprise parents who were putting children onto the bus and welcome them to the new school year," said Fried.
The school's therapy dog, Gus, was also back in the hallways to greet returning and new students.
