The city of White Plains honored the woman who founded a cancer support network by naming a street after her Thursday.
Comedian and actress Gilda Radner died of ovarian cancer more than a decade ago. Scores of people came together at Gilda?s Club on Maple Avenue to celebrate the gifted actress and her contribution to cancer care. And now the corner of Maple and Chester avenues will be known as Gilda Radner Way.
Over the last five years Gilda?s Club of Westchester has had 1,600 people become members. The club and its founder wanted a place where cancer patients wouldn't feel isolated and alone. Members of the organization say that?s just what Gilda?s Club accomplishes. Related InformationGilda's Club
