White Plains Hospital has more than doubled its size to help care for cancer patients.
The hospital wanted to create a second home for the 1,200 newly diagnosed cancer patients it treats each year, so it added a six-story tower on Longview Avenue called the Center for Cancer Care.
The 70,000-square-foot center includes office space and additional suites for radiation, chemotherapy, yoga and massage therapy.
"It doesn't feel like a hospital. It doesn't, besides the IVs, it's the only thing that gives it away," says cancer survivor LouAnne Mitchell.
About 2,500 people are employed at White Plains Hospital, which is affiliated with Montefiore Health Systems.
