Utility crews across the Hudson Valley have been working around the clock to restore power after heavy rain and gusty winds whipped the region on Monday.

Gusts hit up to 50 mph in Westchester and up to 40 mph in other parts of the region. Up to three inches of rain fell, with Orange County receiving the heaviest totals.

At the height of the storm, just under 2,000 customers were without power in Westchester. News 12 is told downed trees and limbs were mostly to blame for much of the outages. It was the same story in Rockland County, with hundreds losing power but most had electricity restored last night.

As of 5 a.m., only 50 customers in the Hudson Valley were without power.

Conditions on the roads are also much improved. It was a white knuckle drive for motorists going over the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge as strong winds and blowing rain made for dangerous driving.

However, all the parkways and spots that shut down yesterday have reopened, including the Saw Mill and Bronx River parkways.

However, transportation officials warn there is still leftover ponding on some roadways.
